Sierra Leone’s diamond miners benefit little from the trade

Sierra Leone has rich resources, but all too often that’s led to conflict especially when it comes to diamonds.

 

For more that two years, the country was ravaged by deadly Ebola crisis that killed thousands.

It however managed to purge the virus, and was declared Ebola Free by the World Health Organization (WHO).

Now that the Ebola crisis is over, miners in the country have resumed mining precious stones.

There is a problem however, most of the miners of the country’s diamonds benefit very little from their work.
