Eight women and children have been arrested on suspicion of being part of a terrorist training camp on the outskirts of Tanzania’s biggest city Dar es Salaam.

It is the latest in a number of high-profile arrests in East Africa that have led to concerns that terrorists may be trying to spread their influence.

Tanzania police say the suspects were being taught the use of martial arts and firearms, as well as methods of war and how to kill.

Tanzanians are generally shocked that the suspects include children, but police pulled no punches and went on to name all them – irrelevant of their ages.
