Will the concerns of the least developed nations be addressed during the COP22
Chairperson of the Least developed countries, Mr. Tosi Mpanu-Mpanu concerned that the Paris climate pact negotiations are at risk of losing sight of the urgency in concrete action.
During a press conference held to update on the climate change talks at COP22, Mpanu-Mpanu said that the urgent issue that needed tackling and addressing is climate finance for LDCs
He said that there is a great imbalance between adaptation and funding.
Asked on the options of funding in the case US pulled out from the climate change pact, he said that the best thing would be contribution from parties and anyone else who is willing.
Mr. Mpanu- Mpanu said that if the US decides to pull out from the climate pact, other countries will still do it anyway.
“There is less the US can do to hinder climate pact, but the worry will but that of finance.” He said
So as world leaders come in tomorrow will the least developed countries issues be tackled?
