Sudan, Kenya push for withdrawal from the Hague court

Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta at the weekend wrapped up his visit to Sudan.

He met with Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir. Both leaders have been discussing Africa’s withdrawal from the International Criminal Court. They have agreed to implement the African Union’s plan to exit.

Gambia, South African and Burundi have already announced their withdrawal from the Hague-based court. Kenyatta and Bashir also discussed the crisis in South Sudan. The two leaders agreed to double efforts to ensure a lasting peace in the country.

Kenya and Sudan have signed several agreements, including one on energy cooperation.
