The United Nations has raised concerns over the recent violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The UN Joint Human Rights Office in Congo says the country’s state security services are responsible for most of the deaths in last month’s violence.
At least 48 civilians were shot, burned, beaten, or hacked to death after security authorities clashed with anti-government protesters who were demanding that elections be held in November as prescribed by the constitution.
The rights body says there were at least four hundred and twenty two cases of rights abuses during the violence.
Congolese police say they have yet to receive the report, and will respond once they have.
