Scientists in Uganda are putting their efforts into adding nutritional value to the sweet potato.

It comes after a Ugandan scientist received worldwide acclaim for his work on the fleshy tubers. Dr Robert Mwanga and his colleagues recently won the World Food Prize for their research into increasing levels of vitamin A in sweet potatoes. It’s all part of efforts to reduce hunger.
