Four soldiers killed, three wounded in attack in Mali’s Segou region
Malian army says at least four soldiers have been killed and nine wounded after armed men attacked their convoy in the central Segou region.
According to reports, the vehicle was traveling between Diabaly and Nampala when it hit a land mine. The assailants then opened fire at the convoy. Three of the wounded soldiers are in a serious condition.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, though it is similar to other assaults carried out by the Macina Liberation Front, which has ties to the Ansar Dine extremists.
