Assessments show South Sudan’s Kiir is obstructing UN peacekeeping efforts

Despite South Sudan’s promise to accept more UN peacekeepers into the country, the pledge has not translated into action on the ground.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon says it may take more time to determine if the government plans to follow through on its commitment. The delay has raised the prospect of an arms embargo.
