Gabon’s President Ali Bongo insists country will host AFCON 2017

The Confederation of African football meets this week for its annual congress and on the agenda is the 2017 cup of nations.

CAF is set to decide if Gabon will maintain its hosting rights after a tense political situation enveloped the country following a disputed general election. Ali Bongo was sworn in over the weekend after the constitutional court ruled in his favour and has insisted that the competition will go ahead.
