Nigeria’s John Obi Mikel considers Chelsea exit
Nigerian football captain John Obi Mikel is open to leaving English side Chelsea if he is not offered a new contract, and has touted the United States as a possible destination.
The 29-year-old has been at Chelsea for more than a decade, and is now considering an exit, with the January transfer window a possible time for the midfielder to make a switch.
Mikel has made 75 appearances for the Super Eagles, notching four goals in that run.
He was part of the team that triumphed at the 2013 AFCON finals in South Africa, beating Burkina Faso to the coveted trophy.
He captained the team to the Bronze medal at the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
Mikel has won two Premier League titles with Chelsea, four FA Cup titles, two League Cups, one community shield, one UEFA Champions League and one UEFA Europa League.
