
Liberian opposition parties merge in hopes of ousting ruling party in next elections
Twelve political parties in Liberia have joined forces in hopes of taking down the ruling political party, Liberty party, in the 2017 presidential election reports VOA.
“We want continue our peace that we celebrated some time ago. We do not want to see violence. So we all met to discuss the issue how to collaborate and move our country forward…. A technical team or committee was set up by the convention to draw up the modalities for the collaboration,” said Senator Prince Johnson
Liberian President Johnson Sirleaf is expected not to seek a third term since the constitution does not allow her Vice President Joseph Boakai is expected to run in the coming elections.
No Presidential candidate has been fronted yet by the new opposition coalition but will give more information in two months.
