Read < 1 minute

In South Africa, the first known television interview with late anti-apartheid leader Nelson Mandela has come to light.

The footage believed to have dated from 1956 shows the bearded activist vowing to fight racism. The Nelson Mandela Foundation says the 24-second interview took place at the Old Synagogue in Pretoria and was probably taken during the Treason Trial, which ended with the acquittal of Mandela and dozens of others.
