Mixed reaction in Juba over government’s acceptance of AU troops

Read < 1 minute

South Sudanese government under the leadership of President Salva Kiir has denied surrendering the country’s sovereignty to a foreign force after accepting their deployment in Juba despite President Kiir’s earlier repeated vows that not even a “single” additional foreign soldier will be allowed to enter South Sudan.

But as CCTV’s Patrick Oyet reports, the agreement to deploy troops to South Sudan does not guarantee that opposition leader Riek Machar will return to Juba, and resume his position in the country’s unity government.
