US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has sparked outrage among Somali refugees in America, after blaming them for a rise in crime and islamist radicalization.
Adressing a rally in the Portland city of Maine, Trump suggested that the influx of Somali refugees is a security risk in the city. He blamed them for the increase of crime in the area. The Somali community of Portland has condemned Trumps rants in a statement. They describe the presidential candidates rhetoric as destructive and damaging to their youth and culture.
Trump has since defended his objections to Somali immigration.
