Excited supporters give Kizza Besigye money in Kampala after dismissal of court case

Uganda’s main opposition leader Kizza Besigye yesterday took to the streets of Kampala to celebrate the dismissal of a court case against him, with his supporters joining him.

As he was driven through the streets, his supporters were caught on camera giving him money, presumably for his upkeep.

In the videos, a delighted Besigye is seen thanking the supporters for their generosity as he waved enthusiastically to them.

The opposition leader’s court case of disobedience of lawful orders was yesterday dismisses for lack of evidence.

Grade one magistrate Fortunate Nyapiri dismissed the case after the prosecutioin failed to produce a single witness in court to testify against the accused.

Besigye came second in the February poll, garnering 35.37 per cent against President Yoweri Museveni’s 60.8 percent.
