British security experts praise measures at Cairo International Airport

A committee from Britain’s air transport security department inspected the security measures at Cairo International Airport on Wednesday, with particular focus on British Airways flight no.154 heading to London, praising the high level of security in place.

The committee followed security measures relating to passengers, goods and the flight itself and confirmed that prodedures appeared to be in order. The also checked measures surrounding parcels, cargo and luggage.

The experts observed the boarding of passengers and the loading of meals and drinks onto the flight by the catering staff.

The committee was in Cairo for a three-day inspection tour scheduled to end on Friday, aimed at ensuring that security standards are sufficient to allow for daily flights between the UK and Egypt.

The committee had particular praise for a policewoman, Ayah Walid, suggesting that she be given a bonus for her hard work in the airport’s security department.
