Stampede in a Mosque in Ghana leaves 9 dead

At least 9 people died in a stampede in Ghana during the Muslim celebrations, Eid, a day that marks the end of the holy month of fasting reports local Ghana media Joy online.

According to the reports out of the nine, six were female and three males that lost their lives and one person is in a critical condition.

The cause of the stampede at the Asawase Community Center in Kumasi in Southern Ghana is yet to be known. Some survivors say that there was a fight that broke out inside the Center that created the commotion while others say that a power blackout triggered the stampede and others reporting a gunshot noise.

The community center was overcrowded with at least people between 200 to 300 believed to have been in attendance.
