Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta landed in Botswana for a three day visit under the invitation of Botswana President Ian Khama. The two leaders held discussions on ways to engage in business.

Botswana agreed to review the rules that pertain to Kenyan professionals and business people in the South African country, with Botswana agreeing to work on the restrictive work permits rules for Kenyans.

Botswana was encouraged to explore investment opportunities in Kenya.

“There is immense unexploited trade potential between our countries. I look forward to your Government’s support in facilitating trade and investment between our countries,” said President Kenyatta according to The Capital

President Khama mentioned Kenya’s role in training Botswana government officials in public administration. Adding that Kenya has also trained many Botswana nationals in other fields including railway engineering, agricultural experts, journalists and defence officers.

Kenya and Botswana also signed agreements on the areas of water and tourism. Botswana will also review bilateral air service agreements to allow Kenya’s national airline KQ to fly to more destinations in Botswana.

Both Presidents will be opening the Botswana-Kenya Business Seminar to boost business engagements between the two countries.
