The Nigerian government is looking to create thousands of jobs in the technology industry to curb rising unemployment among its youth.

Some estimates indicate that in excess of 78 million young people in Nigeria are either unemployed or under employed.

Konga, one of Nigeria’s biggest online shopping stores, is largely driven by young employees. The site sells a wide selection of electronics, home appliances, fashion and beauty products.
Founded in 2012, Konga has tapped into the lucrative e-commerce market in the West African country.

The company caters to a growing middle class who prefer shopping from the comfort of their homes or offices.

Analysts estimate the industry is worth nearly 2 billion U.S. dollars and the government is seeing a huge job potential in it.
