Embassy of the Republic of Congo in Paris attacked with ‘petrol bombs’

Republic of Congo’s embassy in Paris, France was attacked early Tuesday morning with petrol bombs that landed at the building’s reception reports Jeune Afrique.

The attackers crashed through the front gate of the embassy with their vehicle before throwing the homemade –bottles filled with flammable liquid that is ignited on attack- bombs to the building leaving it on fire. Fortunately, the fire did not reach the offices. The assailants torched their vehicles as well before leaving.

There was no guard on site during the 1 am attack. No one was harmed in the attack.

Identity of the attackers is yet to be known and no one has claimed responsibility for the attack. The French police have opened an investigation into the matter.

Congo embassies abroad have come under attack by supporters of radical opposition against the ruling regimes in the diaspora, for example the 2015 attack that was staged by eight people on the Embassy of Congo in Paris. The attacker were calling for the annulment of the referendum proposed by President Denis Sassou Nguesso, they were placed into custody after bursting and causing damage to the Embassy of Congo in Paris.
