Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta is in France for a state visit that is reportedly aimed at boosting cooperation between the two nations in matters of security, investment, trade and tourism.
The president will hold bilateral talks with his French counterpart Francois Hollande among other engagements.
France is Kenya’s 6th largest investor while the East African nation is the largest recipient of French Overseas Development Assistance.
The two countries have severely been plagued by terrorism, and the two leaders are expected to deliberate on how to fight radicalization.
Upon completion of his France visit, President Kenyatta will head to Germany upon the invitation of the German Chancellor Dr. Angela Merkel.
This will be the first time since 1999 that a Kenyan sitting president makes an official visit to Germany.
Currently Germany is the second largest source of tourists travelling to Kenya, after the United Kingdom with Kenya’s exports rising to Ksh 11 billion in 2014. There are about 90 German companies that have invested about $120 million in Kenya and created over created 4200 jobs.
