Zimbabwe government rescuing women trafficked to Kuwait
The government of Zimbabwe has saved over 15 women with over 200 women reported to have been trafficked to Kuwait where they were forced into domestic slavery.
President Mugabe’s government through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned Zimbabweans to be ‘extremely circumspect’ before accepting job offers abroad.
Seven Zimbabweans appeared in court earlier this year with allegations of being human traffickers who had promised young women work as waitresses or housemaids in Kuwait, reports News 24. Adding that, traffickers are believed to be recruiting women from salons.
Zimbabwe’s Sunday Mail published an interview with a woman stranded in Kuwait via Whatsup who alleged that an agent was demanding 3,000 dollars from her family before she is allowed to return home.
