ICC verdict expected on Monday in Bemba war crimes trial

The International Criminal Court is due to deliver a verdict on Monday, in the case of the Commander-in-Chief of the Mouvement de libération du Congo and former Democratic Republic of Congo vice president, Jean-Pierre Bemba.

Bemba pleaded not guilty to five counts of war crimes committed against civilians of the Central African Republic more than a decade ago.

Bemba is charged with two counts of crimes against humanity (murder and rape) and three counts of war crimes (murder, rape and pillaging) allegedly committed in Central African Republic in 2002-2003.
