Kenya defends 8 gold medals in Africa Cross Country championships in Cameroon
Kenya emphatically swept all gold medals on offer at the fourth edition of the African cross country championships in Cameroon.
Over 200 athletes from 24 countries took part in the event held at the Yaounde Golf Club Saturday.
Kenyan runners secured a clean medal sweep in the junior women’s 6 kilometre race but lost bronze to Eritrea in the junior men’s race over the same distance.
The East Africans’ dominance was repeated in the senior women’s 8 kilometre race, where they won all the medals on offer before Uganda spoiled the Kenyan party in the senior men’s race, taking silver.
Kenya also won all the four team events in the competition to round off a dominant day in the Cameroonian capital.
