Uganda: Museveni files response to Amama’s election petition
Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni’s legal team submits his response on the election petition filed by Amama Mbabazi at the Supreme Court.
Beating the deadline by two hours, President Yoweri Museveni on Sunday filed his response to former premier Amama Mbabazi’s poll petition.
The petition was filed on Tuesday last week against Museveni, the Attorney General and the Electoral Commission.
Through his team of lawyers led by Kiwanuka Kiryowa, a black suitcase was wheeled into the Supreme Court civil registry at exactly 3:45pm for official stamping and acknowledgement of receipt of the reply.
“Mbabazi filed a petition against us, we were served with copies and now we have responded,” Kiwanuka told a group of journalists who swarmed around him to have a glimpse of the document.
