Kenya places $80,000 bounty on al-Shabaab terror suspects
Kenyan authorities have placed an $80,000 (Kshs 8M) bounty on four terror suspects believed to have masterminded attacks on a bus and a quarry in Mandera in the country’s northern region.
The four; Abdullahi Issak, Idriss Issack, Ahmed Uweys and Mohamed Shide, allegedly planned the November 2014 ambush on Makkah Bus that left 28 people dead.
They have also been linked to the December 2014 killing of 36 quarry workers in the region.
“The suspects are believed to be operating in the general area of Mandera and Wajir in Kenya and the Gedo region of Somalia,” Inspector General Joseph Boinnet said in a statement on Friday.
“They are believed to be armed and dangerous,” Boinnet said, adding they may be in the company of other al Shabaab terrorists and may collaborate with sympathisers.
Boinnet asked the public to bring forward any information regarding the whereabouts of the four terror suspects to help in their capture.
“Information provided will be treated with utmost confidence and will go a long way in ensuring the suspects are brought to justice,” he said.
