South Sudan opposition says ultimatum for new government too short
South Sudanese opposition leader, Dr. Riek Machar now says the seven day ultimatum issued by President Salva Kiir for the formation of a Transitional Government is rather short.
Machar, through his spokesperson, says the earliest he could be in Juba is February 25th. Earlier this week he made it clear that his return to Juba will depend on how fast the capital can be demilitarized and the police force integrated.
Though the opposition is wary of the government’s moves so far, it appears content with the progress so far.
According sources in the SPLM in oppostion UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon wants Riek Mechar to return to Juba by the 25th of February.
