Plans underway to revamp tourism infrastructure in Sudan
After taking a beating during years of civil strife in the country, Sudan is currently looking to revamp its tourism sector. This was confirmed in a meeting between the Sudanese Tourism Minister and the Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization. Sudan’s Tourism industry suffers from multiple problems, including the lack of survey and promotion of its attractions and poor tourism infrastructure.
In recent years, the Sudanese government has rebuilt some pyramids,which are an attraction to tourists. Unlike the giant Egyptian Pyramids, the Nubian pyramids in Sudan are known as “Small pyramids”.
“We also introduced the elements and the possibilities of Sudan, and surprised the people that there is in one area in Sudan contains 285 Pyramids…. we will have a gallery in China, and I met with Sudanese Ambassador to China, and we expected that there would be a great prospects.They have some conditions and we are going to study how to attract Chinese tourists.” Mohammed Abu Zaid, Minister of Tourism, Antiquities and Wildlife
