A rousing reception for Zimbabwe’s Robert Mugabe. Last month he ended his tenure as AU chair. This rally was to celebrate his efforts to promote women’s rights in Africa. Led by his wife, Grace Mugabe, the ruling party’s women’s league thanked him.

“As you know the women’s league is the strongest wing of the party. You Mr. President have done a lot to improve our welfare even here at home so we thank you for that.”Without the women’s league we would not have won any election…Even Zimbabweans as a people would not be here were it not for women” Said Grace Mugabe, Zimbabwe’s First Lady

President Mugabe praised the role women play in his country.

The rally came ahead of a meeting of the top leadership of the ZANU-PF party. Once again, the succession was discussed and the factionalism when it comes to it. It was President Mugabe’s role to restore order within the party.

“What the president did above everything he reunited the party and put a clear demarcation between what is wrong and what is right.” Alice Lumumba, ZANU-PF Supporter

Mugabe has been in power since 1980 and he’s been endorsed as the ruling party’s candidate for the 2018 elections.
