Former Nigerian president Goodluck Jonathan could face justice, Buhari warns
Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has issued a stern warning to corrupt officials in the country, saying that he will not spare anyone who has a case to answer, , Premium Times reports.
In a statement released by the presidential spokesperson Femi Adesina, Buhari reiterated his commitment to the war against corruption, announcing that former president Goodluck Jonathan would have to face justice if he was found guilty of corrupt dealings.
The president’s announcement came in response to a major case involving former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, who has been accused of diverting at least $2.1 billion in funds meant for the procurement of military equipment to be used in the fight against Islamist militant group Boko Haram.
Several top officials who served under the Jonathan administration have been put under investigation by Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, casting the spotlight on the former president and dealings that were carried out during his administration.
