New exhibition in London looking at centuries of West African history

In the United Kingdom a new exhibition is looking at centuries of West African history dubbed, “West Africa, Word, Symbol, Song”, organizers hope the exhibition will give outsiders a new perspective on the region.

This exhibition at the British Library in London explores 1000 years of West African history. It’s packed with books, music, textiles and videos from 17 countries.

The exhibition also looks at how West African culture has been exported around the world.

It also charts the writings and publications that propelled West African countries towards independence.
