Read < 1 minute

Parties to the conflict in South Sudan met for the first time in Juba on Tuesday, to begin talks on the formation of a Transitional Government of National Unity in accordance with the Peace Agreement signed in August.

The chair of the meeting was quick to note that this round of talks left no room fro re-negotiations.

The first meeting  was chaired by Botswana’s former President Festus Mogae, who heads the African Union’s Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission. He set out the agenda clearly to all parties.
