Chinese doctors celebrate 48 years of service to Malians
It’s been close to half a century since the first Chinese medical team was deployed to Mali. In time the team has provided both technical support and trained several thousands of locals.
Over 700 Chinese doctors have served in Mali over the years. Deployed in 24 batches the doctors have been working in various areas of health providing both technical support and training. More recently China deployed its 24th batch of doctors to the country . They included Orthopaedics, obstetricians and gynaecologist, general practitioners , paediatricians and acupuncturist
Local Malian doctors have also benefited from free training from their Chinese counterparts. Many are appreciative of the role China has played in the country’s health sector . Although parts of Mali have been engulfed by instability and violence for several years, The chinese doctors there remain committed to their cause and hope to impact more lives in the coming years
