Nearly half of European jihadists known to have travelled to ISIL held territory are French. That’s according to a report by the French Senate in April. It says over 14 hundred French people have made their way to Iraq and Syria, and some 200 have left to go back to France. There are growing concerns that more attacks will come mirroring Friday’s tragedies

France has suffered a series of terrorist attacks this year.

Before Friday nights attacks which left at least 128 people dead and hundreds others wounded, in January, two gunmen storm the Paris offices of Charlie Hebdo, a weekly known for satirical caricatures of Islam and other religions. Days later, a police officer was shot and people taken hostage in another terrorist attack.
