Vodacom to roll out video-on-demand service

With the demand for voice products dropping steadily and the move to fourth generation networks, video services that’s affordable and easily accessible is being seen as the next frontier in online and mobile content. Telecommunications giant Vodacom has become the latest in a string of South African service providers to announce a video-on-demand service.

Vodacom has 33.7 million subscribers in South Africa alone. Data usage accounts for 23% of its revenue. Analysts say that the future growth for mobile networks lies in growing their video markets.
