Ugandan Twitter pours anger over Ugandan police’s harassment of woman
A video of Ugandan Police arresting a woman identified as Fatuma Zainab has sparked massive twitter reactions from the Uganda public as they express their anger at the police’s treatment of political groups opposed to the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) and women in general.
The six-minute video footage was published by NTV Uganda on the broadcaster’s YouTube channel.
The police were reported to have foiled the Forum for Democratic Change opposition party’s attempt to hold a rally in the western town of Rukungiri.
Twitter was abuzz with reactions to the way Fatuma was particularly handled as she was being arrested. The footae showed a half-necked Fatuma struggling against a group of police officers trying to arrest her. The police eventually managed to forcefully dump her onto the back of their van and drive off with her.
The Ugandan twitter users did not spare the country’s police chief General Kale Kayihura as they also poured a lot of their anger on him.
Here are some of those Twitter reactions;
#EndPoliceBrutalityUG As we approach elections, the police must exhibit impartiality not bias. They actions speaks to the contrary.

But by the time you can pull a pair of jeans off a woman on the ground, your intentions are highly suspect. https://t.co/YCnWnaf7ii

#EndPoliceBrutalityUG We must call for a robust independent civilian oversight of Police. Police self investigations loop-sided
