Since the civil war in South Sudan broke out in 2013 thousands of people have lost their lives while approximately 2.2 million displaced from their homes. A majority of those displaced a women and children, among them mothers widowed left to fend for their children on their own with no education and minimal skills.

“We fled our homes when fighting broke-out. Our home was burnt down, we came to this place with nothing and we have nothing to go home to. We are better of in these camps than risking life out there again.” says Mayat Mabil, a widow with six children

With little left to do the widows and children hope that the peace deal signed in August by President Salva Kiir and rebel leader Riek Machar will change their situation soon, by providing economic opportunities for them and their families.
