6 killed in attack on DRC army camp
At least three Congolese soldiers were killed in an attack on their camp located in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo, military sources said on Friday.
Three women believed to be soldier’s wives were also killed in the attack on the camp at Rumangabo, 50km north of Goma, the capital of North Kivu province.
The attackers also reportedly made off with heavy weapons from the camp.
The mineral-rich North Kivu province has been riddled by conflicts that have lasted more than two decaded, with Ugandan and Rwandan rebel groups still active there and are blamed for killing hundreds of civilians despite a UN mission to restore peace in the province.
