Morocco’s ‘Blue City’. Chefchaouen is best-known for its colorful buildings, a centuries-old tradition kept alive today.

Nestled in the Rif Mountains, is Morocco’s “Blue City” it’s easy to see how it got its nickname but the history behind its colour is one of turmoil, and persecution.

It was Jewish refugees fleeing the Spanish Inquisition in the late 15th century who first painted their buildings blue.

CCTV’s Clementine Logan met some of its residents to find out more.
