Zimbabwe’ s Parks and wildlife management authority has suspended hunting of lions, cheetahs and elephants in Hwange following the illegal killing of Cecil the lion last month.
The authority has introduced stringent measures which also include a suspension of Bow hunting, the method used to kill Cecil the lion last month, to try and clamp down on cases of illegal hunting and poaching.
The Zimbabwean authorities have also confirmed the arrest of another suspect in connection with the killing of another lion in the Hwange area.
The suspensions and international backlash to the killing of the 13-year-old lion could negatively affect the country’s trophy hunting industry, which generates 100 million dollars a year.
