Al Ahly conducted their last practice session on Friday before entertaining Etoile Sportive du Sahel of Tunisia on Saturday in the African Confederation Cup group stage.

The Cairo giants, who last season became the first Egyptian team ever to win the Confederation Cup, are currently second in Group A with four points following a win over Tunisian side Esperance and a draw against Stade Malien of Mali.

A home win over the weekend would see Al Ahly overtake the visitors at the top of the table.

The two sides meet in the Confederation Cup at the same stage for the second season running, having drawn 1-1 and Nil- Nil before Ahly went on to win last year’s title.

“CAF has informed us that Hossam Ashour will not be able to play in the next match against Etoile du Sahel as they have given him a two-match ban after he saw red in the opening match against Esperance,” Al Ahly director Wael Gomaa said.

Ashour did not feature for the Egypt side in their last match against Stade Malien and they will have to continue the journey without him in this encounter as well.

Apart from him Gomaa also confirmed that they are missing a number of their players.

Coming to this match Etoile will be more confident as they beat their rivals Esperance 1-0 in their last Confed Cup match.

Etoille will also be without their Cameroonian midfielder Franck Kom, who is out for around two months after his leg was broken during his side’s friendly game against Olympique de Marseille.
