President Buhari begins a four-day visit to Washington

Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari is due to meet with President Barack Obama in Washington. The two leaders are expected to hold talks on several issues, with the threat of Boko Haram militants likely to dominate.

Obama is due to welcome Buhari at the White House. The two will hold a closed door meeting at around 1500 GMT, with a press briefing scheduled later.

Boko Haram militants have escalated their attacks in Nigeria since Buhari took office in May. CCTV’s Deji Badmus explored the ways the United States could assist in battling the group, along with several other issues that will likely come up during the meeting.
