South Africa: Eskom must secure alternative funds

South Africa’s ailing power utility, Eskom, must go back to the drawing board after the country’s energy regulator dismissed an application to raise power prices.

The utility had applied for an extra 12% price hike which would have taken the total increase to 25% in the current financial year.

As CCTV’s Sumitra Nydoo reports, the regulator’s decision has made industry groups pretty happy
