Egypt’s prosecutor’s motorcade targeted in bomb blast
A motorcade belonging to Egypt’s state prosecutor has been hit by a bomb blast in Cairo.
Sources say several people have been rushed to hospital with in juries.
A senior police officer told the AFP news agency that top prosecutor Hisham Barakat and his bodyguards had been taken to hospital following Monday’s attack.
The prosecutor is said to be in fairly good condition.
Egypt’s judiciary has increasingly been targeted by Islamist militants opposed to the government of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and apparently angered by hefty sentences handed down to Muslim Brotherhood members.
