Officials of the ruling party in Morocco are up in arms over a performance by Pop star Jennifer Lopez which was aired live on public TV.

They say the show  at the Mawazine music festival in Rabat  over the weekend was a breach of public decency.

Disgusted senior members of the ruling party JDP who have called the performance unacceptable,  now want the minister for communication  Mustapha Khalfi to resign according to news souses in Morocco.

Khalfi was criticised for allowing the gig to air on public television but according to news sources the minister has refused to step aside.

Minister Mustafa Al-Khalfi of the JDP did not criticize Lopez directly but wrote on his Twitter account that the fact that the show was broadcast by the 2M public TV network – which airs all the Mawazine music festival concerts – was “unacceptable” and “against the law.”

Although J. Lo wearing sexy clothes shouldn’t be unexpected, many thought she should have toned down her wardrobe choices  for Morocco, as it is a conservative Muslim country.

Another official, Abdessamad Al-Idrissi, criticized the festival as well, saying that it was “shameful.”

J.Lo hasn’t responded to the criticism, though she did tweet about her experience at the festival, thanking her fans for “all their love.”
