Read < 1 minute

Madagascar took one step closer to securing a quarterfinal place, eliminating Tanzania in group B. Meanwhile, Swaziland joined Madagascar on six points in Group B after a 2-0 win over Lesotho. The win takes the island nation to six points after they won their first game against Lesotho 2-1 on Monday, while Tanzania are rock-bottom with zero points after two games.

Madagascar’s goals were scored in the first half by Martin Rakotoharimalala, who netted in the 14th minute, and Rhino Randriamanjaka a minute before half-time.Franck Rajaonarisamba’s side were much the better side for large parts of the game and fully deserved the result.

The next game in Group B is between Lesotho and Swaziland later tonight. A win for the Swazis would also take them to six points, while Lesotho are yet to get off the mark.
