Rwanda’s Foreign Affairs Minister meets Chinese Foreign Minister

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has met with Louise Mushikiwabo, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Republic of Rwanda.

Louise Mushikiwabo is paying a working visit to China from April 29th to May 2nd.

The two foreign ministers exchanged views on China-Rwanda relations, China-Africa relations and other issues. Wang Yi said Rwanda is enjoying political stability and economic prosperity and gradually improving people’s living standards.

Wang added that Rwanda has a very good business environment among developing countries in East Africa.

The Chinese government encourages its companies to go to Rwanda, work with local companies, transfer practical technologies, cultivate talents and explore new products and markets.

China will help African countries develop infrastructure, agriculture, manufacturing and small and medium-sized enterprises. Louise Mushikiwabo said she witnessed the Rwandan Infrastructure Minister sign the Letter of Intent with the Chinese side to construct two infrastructure projects of water supply and hydro power station.

The two projects are under the framework of a Public-Private-Partnership, or PPP, and a Build-Operate-Transfer, or BOT.
