6-metre Madiba statue erected in Palestine
The City of Johannesburg has commissioned and donated a 6-metre Nelson Mandela bronze statue to the people of Palestine.
The statue will be erected in the city of Ramallah, and has been hailed by the mayor of the city as carrying a symbolic significance since he was an international symbol of peace and a torch to people striving for freedom and liberty
The statue is believed to have been designed by Dali Tambo‚ the son of struggle icon Oliver Tambo‚ who was also involved with conceptualising the Madiba statue at the Union Buildings‚ Pretoria.
