4 dead, hundreds injured in Pretoria train collision

At least four people were killed and hundreds injured following a mid-morning train accident in Pretoria, South Africa.

According to emergency medical service company ER24, 200 passengers were injured following a collision between two passenger trains in Mountain View, Pretoria.

“Approximately 200 other patients were found on the scene. Assessments showed that the injuries sustained ranged from minor to critical,” ER24 said in a statement.

One patient who was critically injured was airlifted to hospital.

Tshwane mayor Solly Msimanga who is at the scene confirmed the fatalities and is currently in a meeting with Metrorail officials.
