30% women quota in Somalia’s Senate, parliamentary seats faces stiff resistance

In Somalia, lawmakers announced that a 30 percent female quota would be applied to the Senate and parliamentary seats.

But implementing this declaration is far more complicated. So far, just 16% of the parliamentary seats and 23% of the Senate seats had been won by women.
